Abstract

The article presents the expressions of the need to perform an action in the English and Karakalpak languages.  The modals express the need in both languages are shown with examples in affirmative, interrogative and negative forms. The peculiarities of the expressions of the need to perform an action in the English and Karakalpak languages are specified the extracts of the works of the researchers worked on modality category.
