Abstract

«The Tale of Peter and Fevronia of Murom» is one of the most famous works of ancient Russian literature, which still retains its relevance. In this story, the concepts of “husband” and “wife” are clearly expressed, which play an important role in society. The story of Peter and Fevronia is an example of how the concepts of “husband” and “wife” were perceived in ancient Russian society.A man and a woman were considered equal in rights and duties. They had their own tasks and responsibilities that they performed for the benefit of the family and society as a whole. The article explores various aspects of the expression of the concepts «husband» and «wife» in the text of the work, paying attention to the lexical, syntactic and stylistic features that help to create a unique idea of marital relations in medieval Russia. Through the analysis of linguistic means, the author of the article examines various aspects of creating the ideal of marital relations displayed in the work, including the socio-cultural context, stereotypes of gender roles and moral and ethical norms. The results of the study will help to understand more deeply the attitude to the institution of marriage and the idea of the role of men and women in Russian culture, as well as shed light on the historical and cultural features of the society of the era in which the work «The Tale of Peter and Fevronia Muromsky» was created.
