This article describes the development of cognitive competence in students studying in higher education institutions, the essence of the concept of cognitive competence, the pedagogical prerequisites, necessary factors and important aspects of the development of cognitive competence of students in the process of higher education. Therefore, the problem of developing students’ cognitive competencies is of particular importance today.
