This scientific article analyzes idiomatic expressions in English, Russian, German, and other languages to identify common features and unique characteristics. The article examines the influence of cultural and historical factors on the formation of idiomatic expressions, as well as their role in conveying national color and mentality. Special attention is paid to the mechanisms of translating idioms between languages and ways of their interpretation. The results of the study help to better understand the nature of phraseology as a phenomenon of cultural-linguistic context and to identify common patterns and differences in the use of idioms in different languages.
